Also known as Yellow Cedar, Nootka False Cypress, Yellow Cypress, Alaskan Cypress, Sitka Cypress, and White Cedar. Alaskan Yellow Cedar is pale yellow and a little darker than Port Orford Cedar. It has a strong odor when freshly cut, becoming faint upon drying. The wood is stable, stiff for its weight and has a strong resistance in decay. It dries well with little shrinkage, and noted for its stability in use.

Alaskan Yellow Cedar offers the advantages of natural beauty, design flexibility, exceptional dimensional stability and long term durability. In general, applications can be classified into two very broad groups: First, for those structures such as large buildings in which both the strength and appearance of exposed wood members are of equal importance. Second, in landscape, park and garden structures whew appearance is of very high importance.
#2&Btr Appearance: The lumber is sound and well manufactured. Its natural characteristics do not detract from the wood's fine appearance. This grade should be specified when the finest quality rough lumber is desired.
