Historically, Port Orford Cedar has been the preferred wood for buildings, boats, railroad ties, and fence posts. Its heartwood has an in-ground life of 20-25 years. With its fine texture, tight grain, and pleasant sweet-spicy scent makes it an excellent choice for interior wood work.

Timber/Clears, No. 2&Btr Appearance
Port Orford Cedar offers the advantages of natural beauty, design flexibility, exceptional dimensional stability and long term durability. In general applications can be classified into two very broad groups: First, for those structures such as large buildings in which both the strength and appearance of exposed wood members are of equal importance. Second, in landscape, park and garden structures where appearance is of very high importance.
#2&Btr Appearance: The lumber is sound and well manufactured. Its natural characteristics do not detract from the wood's fine appearance. This grade should be specified when the finest quality rough lumber is desired.
